The short answer
The middle price across all 46 resort-weeks we checked was $3,858 for the week — about $138 per person per night with food and drinks included. Flights are extra (you fly into Cancun, CUN). The cheapest week we found was $2,450; the most expensive was $13,014.

What the numbers say
- • Riviera Maya vs Cancun: the middle week here was $3,858; on our Cancun page (same family, same three weeks) it was $4,050. Same airport, but the Riviera Maya resorts sit south of it rather than in Cancun's Hotel Zone, so plan on a longer transfer.
- • Late June was the cheapest week at 11 of the 17 resorts. Spring break cost more than June at 13 of the 14 resorts we could compare (middle price $4,222 vs $3,692).
- • Thanksgiving week was the priciest week at 4 resorts: Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, Paradisus Playa del Carmen, Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya, Hotel Xcaret Mexico (all parks included). Don't assume the holiday week is always dearest — at the rest it landed anywhere from cheapest to middle.
- • 6 resorts came in under $3,000 for the week in at least one of the three weeks: Occidental at Xcaret Destination, Sandos Caracol Nature Resort & Water Park, Sandos Playacar, Ocean Riviera Paradise, Holiday Inn Club Vacations The Royal Haciendas, Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya.
- • Playa del Carmen has the most choice — 7 of the 17 resorts we priced are there.
- • Grand Velas Riviera Maya is the top of the market — $9,246 and up for this family in every week we checked.

How we got these prices
We ran the same Expedia search for each week — “all inclusive family resort” in the Riviera Maya, 2 adults with children aged 6 and 10 — on October 6, 2026, and recorded the total price Expedia showed for the full stay. We kept resorts from Playa del Carmen south to Tulum that came back in at least two of the three weeks and have 100+ Expedia reviews; Puerto Morelos and Riviera Cancun resorts are on our Cancun page. Hotel Xcaret Mexico's price includes entry to the Xcaret parks, so it is not comparable to a standard all-inclusive.
